2010 was a year I aborted as many projects as I started, netting in nothing getting completed after Epic Shooter was released on April Fools. It’s not that I didn’t try... I was simply pulled in too many directions. Last year I prototyped a few different genre’s of games; an arena shooter, a beat-em up as well as a Metrovania game. I even took a stab at designing games in XNA but I’ll leave that for another day. Here are 3 of the projects that got canned last year. As you will see these are very incomplete concepts that have nothing but placeholder art. They look terrible but I like to look at them everyone once in a while to remember where my year went...
Epic shooter is a score attack shmup with EPIC boss encounters! Shoot for the highscore in two modes of play against epic evil opponents like Macho Ninjas and BBC's! Later when your saying "WTF", I swear it's just a pink colored banana!
Designed for April Fools' Day it is incredibly hard and unforgiving. How long can you survive in a game that was designed to be mean, cruel and unfair by spitting as many high-speed bullets as possible?
War on Bugs is a maniac shooter with intense arcade action at every step. You have 3 difficulties levels, 2 unique characters and multiple weapons to choose from. War on Bugs is a visual treat with colorful cartoon graphics and countless stylized bugs to squash. Can you survive through 4 bullet-hell inspired stages and a score attack mode without the aid of Raid?
War on Bugs is an improvement musically, graphically and gameplay-wise over my first shooter Raving Ones. The upbeat electronic soundtrack goes well with the vibrant graphics and stylized enemies.
